Overview
The Feeding module is a complete, audit-compliant feeding journal. It covers the entire process from purchasing a feed through the ration for a group to the audit export — exactly as required by Bio Suisse, IP-Suisse, and the Feed Regulations (FMV).
You will find this section in the main navigation between Care and Breeding.
The four building blocks
Feed master data
The central list of all feeds you work with. Each feed is created once — with certification, GMO status, and supplier details. When recording a purchase, you simply select from this list without re-entering the feed every time.
Purchase journal
Every feed purchase is recorded here: date, quantity, supplier, delivery note number, and optionally price. The delivery note itself is attached as a PDF or photo — making the audit trail complete.
Ration plans
One plan per group: which feeds are given in what quantity and how often? Plans have a start and end date; a new plan automatically closes the previous one without any gaps.
Audit export
A single PDF or CSV export that combines purchases, ration periods, and a plausibility cross-check (purchased vs. consumed) in one document — exactly what a Bio or IP-Suisse inspection wants to see.
Overview page
When you open Feeding, you will see:
- Current ration plans — the active plan per group at a glance
- Stock estimate — how many days your current feed stock will last, based on purchases and active rations
- Open delivery notes — purchases that do not yet have an attached delivery note (a common audit pitfall)
- Quick access to new purchase, new ration plan, and audit export
Tip: The stock estimate only works if units are used consistently. If you mix kg, dt, and t, Herdy normalises automatically — a notice appears for unconventional units.
Who needs this module?
- Bio Suisse Knospe / Transition Knospe — detailed feed documentation is mandatory
- IP-Suisse — declaration of feeds used is required
- FMV obligation — all farms that use purchased compound feed
- Direct payment programmes — outdoor access, RAUS, and BTS contributions have feeding requirements
Even if you are not an organic farm, structured feed documentation is worthwhile for your own overview and for comparing order receipts over the years.
