Herdy is a web app. You install it directly from your browser instead of downloading it from an app store. The Herdy icon then appears on your home screen or computer, and Herdy opens in its own window.
Important: Herdy still requires an internet connection. Installing it makes Herdy easier to reach, but does not make it available offline.
Android: install with Google Chrome
- Open Herdy in Google Chrome and sign in.
- Tap the three-dot menu at the top right.
- Tap Install app. Depending on your Chrome version, this may be called Add to Home screen.
- Confirm by tapping Install.
The Herdy icon will appear on your home screen and in your app list. After your first few visits, Herdy may also show an Install Herdy button that opens the same installation prompt.
If you use Samsung Internet, open Herdy in Google Chrome to install it.
iPhone or iPad: install with Safari
- Open Herdy in Safari.
- Tap Share (the square with an upward arrow).
- Scroll down and select Add to Home Screen.
- If shown, turn on Open as Web App.
- Tap Add.
Computer: install with Google Chrome
- Open Herdy in Google Chrome and sign in.
- Select the Install icon on the right of the address bar, if shown.
- Otherwise, open the three-dot menu and select Cast, save and share → Install page as app.
- Confirm by selecting Install.
Herdy then opens in its own window and can be found in your operating system's app list or search.
If the installation option is missing
- Reload the page and check that you are using Chrome, or Safari on iPhone and iPad.
- Update your browser.
- Search your device for Herdy in case it is already installed.
- Installation may be blocked on a computer managed by your employer or organisation.
You can always use Herdy in your browser without installing it.
