Anyone signing in to agate.ch with CH-LOGIN today must switch to AGOV by 31 October 2026. It affects every Agate user — every livestock keeper, every farm. This page explains what to do.

Allow ten to fifteen minutes. You need your Agate credentials and either a smartphone or a FIDO stick.
Go to agov.admin.ch and create an AGOV account. AGOV is the federal login service — the same account later works with other federal offices.
You can sign in without a password from now on: either with the «AGOV access» smartphone app or with a FIDO stick. Both work; the app is the usual route.
Sign in to agate.ch once with your new AGOV account. Agate links the two accounts automatically.
After linking you will see your usual Agate data. Your TVD number, your farm and your past notifications stay unchanged.
Existing Agate users must have switched by 31 October 2026. February 2027 is occasionally mentioned — that is when CH-LOGIN is shut down completely, not your deadline. Work to 31 October 2026.

After 31 October 2026 you will no longer be able to sign in to Agate with CH-LOGIN as usual. Your data remains — but you will need an AGOV account to get back in. Better to switch now than in October.
While you are in Agate anyway: most farms report births, arrivals and departures by hand in the portal — often weeks later, from a note written in the barn. A fair question is how often you should have to sign in there at all afterwards.
