Most Swiss farms keep more than one species.
Forty suckler cows and a hundred sheep on one farm is the normal case, not the exception. Yet today they mostly run apart: one program for the cattle, paper for the rest. In Herdy they stand side by side — same animal list, same treatment journal, same Agate login. The interface follows the species: tail lengths and FAMACHA disappear on a pure cattle farm rather than bothering you with fields you do not have.

68 cattle breeds with real TVD codes
Every breed is stored with its actual TVD code — not with a free-text field that makes the report bounce later. For cattle the coverage is complete; for sheep and goats it is not yet.
Reports from the animal record
Birth, arrival, departure and death go to the TVD over the official interface — from the same screen the animal already sits on. The TVD's confirmation number comes back into the record with a timestamp.
Herd register and accompanying document
You print the herd register as a PDF before the date is set. For a single head of cattle Herdy produces the accompanying document including the mandatory pregnancy declaration for females from 450 days.

Not every report is possible over the interface for every species. What is listed here are TVD rules, not Herdy limits — but you should know them before you decide.

- Slaughter reports for cattle are filed by the abattoir directly (industry solution of the Swiss meat sector). Herdy records the slaughter internally as confirmed.
- The TVD has deactivated goat arrival reports on the interface. That one step you still do in the portal at agate.ch.
- Cancelling works over the interface for cattle; for sheep and goats the TVD switched it off with version 1.31. That is the one place where cattle are better served.

No. Milk yield, lactation data and breeding values are not built. Herdy is meant for suckler herds, rearing and fattening — where the obligations are called reporting, treatment journal and evidence. For a pure dairy operation Barto serves you better, and we say so on the comparison page too.
