Meat and milk have different periods, and with milk the clock runs on every morning. Herdy calculates both out of the treatment and shows them on the animal, not in a notebook in the office.

Bio Suisse, IP-Suisse and the TAMV want almost the same data, prepared three times over. Herdy produces one export with treatments, feed purchases and ration periods, including the purchased-versus-used cross-check.
Kidding January to March
Goats kid earlier than sheep. You record the birth where it happens, the birth report goes to the TVD within the 30 days, and the dam-to-kid link sits in the pedigree.

You record the treatment with product, dose and date. Herdy takes the withdrawal periods for meat and for milk from the medicine, separately, because they are not the same length, and derives the release dates. If a departure comes up while a period is running, Herdy warns you and tells you until when. The treatment journal under TAMV Art. 28 builds itself, and so does the inventory list under Art. 28 Abs. 2.
Three inspections, one record.
Bio Suisse, the TAMV and the TVD want almost the same data, and today you write it down three times. In Herdy it is one entry. Out of it come the treatment journal, the feed and exercise evidence for the label inspection, and the report to the animal movement database. Without switching programs in between.
We cannot file goat arrivals. The TVD has deactivated that report on its interface, an arrival you still enter yourself in the portal at agate.ch. Birth, departure and death do go straight out of Herdy. Because the return from the alp counts as an arrival, you enter that one in the portal too.
We do not record milk yield. No daily volumes, no lactation curves, no breeding values. It is not built, and we would rather write that here than in a footnote.
And on breeds: all 18 goat breeds in Herdy carry their own TVD code, the animal movement database’s breed list is fully covered. «Crossbreed» and «other» remain available when no breed fits.

No. Daily volumes, lactation curves and breeding values are not built. If milk yield is your main concern, Herdy is not the right program today. What Herdy does handle is everything that touches the milk the moment a medicine is involved: the withdrawal period for milk, separate from the one for meat, and the warning that goes with it.
