The path of a notification
Herdy
You record the event once: lambing, arrival, departure. Herdy checks the details before anything goes out.
Official interface
Herdy is an accredited interface partner and sends your notification over the official TVD interface — signed in with your own Agate login.
TVD
The Tierverkehrsdatenbank processes the notification and sends back a confirmation number. It then sits with the animal — with the date and the time.
Agate stays what it is: the federal portal. Herdy does not replace it — Herdy is the way there, without you typing the note from the barn a second time.
So a wrong notification is never filed in your name.
A notification is a declaration to an authority. That is why, in Herdy, a fair amount sits between your tap and the interface.
- Duplicate block: the same animal reported twice is detected and has to be confirmed explicitly
- Delayed sending with a cancel option — you have a few seconds to change your mind
- A completeness check that names the missing field instead of saying «error»
- Deadline monitoring with a countdown: 30 days for a birth, 3 working days for movements
- Correct rather than re-enter, when the TVD rejects a notification
- An automatic retry when the interface is not answering
- A complete notification log with confirmation number and time stamp — your basis during an inspection
Which notification works for which species?
Not everything Herdy can do is permitted by the TVD interface for every species. Here is what works today — and what does not.

- Goat arrivals and the cancellation of sheep and goat notifications are deactivated on the TVD side — not on Herdy's. As soon as the interface permits it, we switch it on and write it into the changelog.
- Breeds: for cattle, all 68 Swiss breeds are stored with their real TVD codes. For sheep and goats the mapping is incomplete; breeds that cannot be mapped go to the TVD as «other».

In four steps
Connect Agate
You sign in with your existing Agate login. Herdy stores no password of yours. For security reasons the connection expires after a short time and is confirmed again next time.
Fetch your herd
Your herd is already in the TVD. Herdy fetches it, with ear-tag numbers, sex and dates of birth. You type nothing.
Record the event
Lambing, arrival, departure — where it happens, on your phone.
Receive the confirmation
The notification goes out, the TVD's confirmation number comes back and stays with the animal.
