Cattle, Care & Animal Welfare, Feeding Journal — the Big May Release
Herdy now supports cattle, introduces a new Care & Animal Welfare module with notes, BCS, shearing, and FAMACHA score, plus an organic-compliant feeding journal with purchase log, ration plans, and audit export. Also: the launch pricing model.

The biggest release in Herdy's history so far. Three new modules, a second species, and a new pricing model — all on the same day.
Cattle Support Added
Herdy is no longer limited to sheep and goats. Cattle farms can now manage their entire stock in Herdy.
- TVD notifications for cattle — birth, arrival, departure, slaughter, and death via the same interface as for sheep and goats.
- Cattle-specific breed list with common Swiss breeds (Holstein, Red Holstein, Brown Swiss, Original Braunvieh, Eringer, and many more).
- Cattle-specific fields — e.g. milk production flag, horn status, suckler cow marking.
- Alpine summering (Sömmerung) and alpine descent also work for cattle farms.
- Intelligent sidebar — modules typical for small ruminants (tail lengths, shearing, FAMACHA) are automatically hidden on pure cattle farms.
New Module: Care & Animal Welfare
Between Health and Breeding, there is now the Care & Animal Welfare section — the place for everything that is neither "medication" nor "breeding".
Notes
- Free-text notes per animal, group, or location — with optional photo and optional follow-up date.
- Voice input via the microphone button — practical when your hands are dirty.
- Photo directly from the camera — tapping the photo icon opens the phone camera.
- Follow-ups appear on the care overview and are summarised daily at 06:30 in an email digest.
Body Condition Score (BCS)
- 9-point scale with large selection chips for quick entry even with gloves on.
- Trend chart per animal with a "healthy band" — you can immediately see whether an animal is losing or gaining condition.
- Batch recording for entire groups, ideal during regular inspection rounds.
Shearing (Shearing Day)
- Create a shearing day as a session — similar to batch weighing.
- Mark multiple animals as shorn at once; individual exceptions (skipped, with reason) are possible.
- Findings per animal can optionally be recorded (skin problems, parasites, injuries).
- The module is automatically hidden for pure cattle farms.
FAMACHA Score
- Ocular mucous membrane colour scale for anaemia detection in sheep and goats — an established tool for targeted deworming.
- Single-tap entry with colour scale from 1 (red) to 5 (white).
- Animal history shows development over time, combined with treatments.
Open Follow-ups
On the care overview you can immediately see which notes require a follow-up — and a daily email digest reminds you if you have not been in the app for a while.
New Module: Feeding Journal
A complete, Bio Suisse / IP-Suisse / FMV-compliant audit trail from purchase to feeding.
Feed Master Data
- Central feed list — enter each feed once, with certification (Bio Suisse Bud, Bio Suisse Transition Bud, EU Organic, conventional, IP-Suisse), GMO status, and supplier details.
- Inline "+ new" directly from the purchase form when a new feed item comes up.
- Archive instead of delete — old entries remain visible for audits.
Purchase Log
- Record every feed purchase — date, quantity, supplier, delivery note number, price (optional).
- Attach delivery note directly — PDF or photo is securely stored and linked to the entry.
- Certification override — if a batch is certified differently from the master-data feed.
- Filter by time period, supplier, or certification.
- Audit export as PDF (organic-compliant format) or CSV.
Ration Plans
- One plan per group with start and end date, individual line items (feed + quantity + frequency).
- Plan changes without gaps — a new plan automatically ends the previous one.
- "Copy from last plan" — adjust seasonal plans instead of re-entering from scratch.
- Stock estimate — a widget on the feeding overview shows how many days your current stock will last.
Audit Export v2
- A single PDF/CSV export with purchases, ration periods, and a plausibility cross-check (purchased vs. consumed).
- Exactly what an organic inspector or IP-Suisse auditor wants to see.
Launch Pricing Model
With the May release, Herdy becomes a paid product — and at the same time as affordable as it will ever be.
- 3 annual subscriptions in CHF: Starter (99), Pro (299), Pro+ (599) — valid until 31 December 2026.
- From 1 January 2027, regular prices apply (119 / 349 / 699).
- 7-day trial without a credit card — full feature set; the only restriction is sending your own TVD notifications.
- Founding-100 — the first 100 paying farms keep the launch price permanently. As long as you remain a paying customer, the price will not change.
- Capacity add-ons — Pro +50 animals and Pro+ +100 animals for CHF 50/year if you fall between two tiers.
- TWINT as the standard payment method at the Stripe checkout.
Tip: On the public pricing page (
/pricing) you can see the current count of the Founding-100. As long as it is not yet full, the lifetime price lock is guaranteed.
