Animal profile & tabs

The animal profile shows you all information about a single animal. Tap an animal in the animal list to open its profile. At the top you see the ear tag, name, species, and status. Below that you find six tabs with different information.

Animal profile with ear tag, tabs, and detail information

Header area

In the header area of the animal profile you see:

  • The ear tag in Swiss format
  • The animal's name (or "No name" if none has been assigned)
  • A coloured badge for the species (sheep, goat, or cattle)
  • A badge for the status (Active, Sold, etc.)

In the top right you find:

  • The Edit button (pencil icon) to change the animal data
  • The Delete button to remove the animal

If the animal has an active withdrawal period, a warning banner is shown directly below the header area. This indicates how long the withdrawal period applies.

Tab: Details

The Details tab is the main view and shows all master data:

  • Breed and breed code
  • Sex (with the species-specific label, e.g. "Ewe")
  • Date of birth
  • Location (with a link to the location)
  • Dam and sire (if linked, with a link to the parent animal)
  • Colour/markings
  • Horn status
  • Tail length
  • Notes

You will also find the BCS (Body Condition Score) here. You can record and update the BCS directly in the Details tab. The BCS history shows you how the animal's body condition has developed over time.

Tab: Groups

The Groups tab shows which groups the animal currently belongs to. From here you can:

  • See how long the animal has been in a group
  • Assign the animal to an additional group
  • Remove the animal from a group
  • View past group memberships

Tip: An animal can belong to multiple groups at the same time. For example, a ewe can be in the breeding group and a pasture group simultaneously.

Tab: Health

The Health tab gives an overview of the animal's health status:

  • Treatments and administered medications
  • Vaccinations
  • Active withdrawal periods (meat and milk)
  • Health events

From here you can record new treatments and view the health history.

Tab: Breeding

The Breeding tab is particularly important for breeding animals and shows:

  • Matings the animal was involved in
  • Births (as dam or sire)
  • Offspring with links to the young animals
  • Pregnancies and expected due dates

Tab: Weight

The Weight tab documents the animal's weight development:

  • Current and past weight entries
  • Weight history as a chart
  • Daily gain and growth curve
  • Comparison with breed reference values

You can record new weight entries directly in this tab.

Tab: History

The History tab is a chronological timeline of all events concerning this animal:

  • BCS recorded - Every BCS assessment
  • Birth - When the animal was born or has offspring
  • Purchase - When the animal was purchased
  • Sale - When the animal was sold
  • Death - When the animal died
  • Location change - Change of location
  • Treatment - Health treatments
  • Joined group - Assignment to a group
  • Left group - Removal from a group

Each entry shows the date and a short description. This gives you a complete, gap-free record of all events at any time.

Tip: The history is maintained automatically. Every action you perform in Herdy is recorded here. You do not need to enter anything manually.

To return to the previous animal or to the animal list, tap the back arrow in the top left. You are taken directly back to the animal list, including the last active filters.
