Overview

The movement history is the central log of all events in your herd. Here you find all activities listed chronologically — from location changes and treatments through to births and weight records.

You reach the movement history via Reports > Movement History.

Which events are displayed?

The movement history captures all types of events documented in Herdy:

  • Status change — When the status of an animal changes (e.g. from "active" to "departed")
  • Location change — When an animal changes location (e.g. moved to a different pasture)
  • Group join — When an animal is assigned to a group
  • Group leave — When an animal leaves a group
  • BCS recording — When the Body Condition Score of an animal is recorded
  • Treatment — Medical treatments (deworming, antibiotics, etc.)
  • Vaccination — Vaccinations carried out
  • Castration — Documented castrations
  • Hoof trimming — Hoof trimming events
  • Mating — Recorded matings
  • Birth — Births with all details
  • Weight recording — Recorded weights

This gives you complete documentation of all events in one place.

Reading entries

Each entry in the movement history shows you four pieces of information:

  1. Date — When the event took place
  2. Animal — Which animal is affected (name and/or ear tag)
  3. Event type — What kind of event it is
  4. Details — Additional information about the event (e.g. medication for a treatment, weight for a weighing)

Entries are sorted chronologically, with the most recent events at the top.

Filtering and searching

The filters let you narrow down the movement history precisely:

Filter by animal

  1. Tap the Filter by animal field
  2. Search by name or ear tag
  3. Select the desired animal

You now see only the events for that one animal. This is particularly useful when you want to trace the complete history of a specific animal.

Filter by event type

  1. Tap the Type filter field
  2. Select one or more event types (e.g. only "Treatment" and "Vaccination")

This lets you, for example, display all treatments from the past few months or trace only location changes.

Filter by time period

  1. Set the start date in the From field
  2. Set the end date in the To field

Herdy then shows only events that took place within this time period.

Tip: Combine the filters for even more targeted analysis. For example: all treatments for animal "Bella" in the last 6 months.

Relationship to the animal history

The movement history shows events for the entire herd. If you only want to see the history of a single animal, there are two ways:

  1. Via the movement history: Filter by the desired animal (as described above)
  2. Via the animal profile: Open the animal profile and switch to the History tab

Both ways show the same data — choose whichever is more convenient in your current situation.

Export

You can export the movement history:

  1. Set the desired filters (animal, type, time period)
  2. Tap Export
  3. Choose the format:
    • CSV — All filtered events as a table, ideal for further processing in Excel
    • PDF — A clearly formatted document for your records or for meetings

Tip: Before a veterinary inspection, export the movement history as a PDF. With the right animal filter, you have the complete documentation for a single animal ready at the touch of a button.
