Vaccinations

Overview

In Herdy, vaccinations are an entry type of the treatment journal. You record them in the same form as a medication treatment and pick Vaccination at the top. Vaccinations therefore sit in the same list as every other entry, appear in the animal profile, and go onto the same sheet as the treatments in the official BLV form.

Recording a vaccination

1. Go to Health > Treatment journal
2. Tap New treatment
3. Pick the type Vaccination at the top
4. Choose the vaccinated animal under Animal identification
5. Fill in the fields:

• Vaccine: from your vaccine catalogue, for example «Footvax» or «Covexin 10». If the vaccine is not in the catalogue yet, type the name and create it straight from the field. If the vaccine carries a default dose, Herdy pre-fills the dose field.
• Dose: the amount given, for example «2 ml»
• Batch number: the lot number from the packaging. It is the basis of traceability and is frequently asked for during inspections.
• Withdrawal periods: meat, milk and organs in days. For most vaccines these are zero days, but that is a statement that belongs in the journal. For some vaccines it is not true, so check the leaflet.
• Prescribing vet: who vaccinated or prescribed
• First application and Last application: the same date for a vaccination

Tip: note the batch number while you are vaccinating, with the packaging still in your hand.

Scheduling a booster

Most vaccinations have to be repeated. You schedule the booster while recording:

1. Tick Schedule booster in the form
2. Choose the planned day under Next date
3. Save the entry

Herdy then creates a scheduled appointment. It counts towards the Upcoming vaccinations card on the health overview and appears in the farm calendar.

Seeing upcoming vaccinations

On the health overview, the Upcoming vaccinations card shows how many scheduled boosters are coming due. Tapping the card opens the treatment journal, filtered to the type Vaccinations.

You can filter in the journal at any time: Type > Vaccinations shows vaccination entries only, and combines with period, animal and vet.

Vaccinating a whole group

If you vaccinate several animals on the same day, use the group treatment:

1. Go to Health > Overview and tap Group treatment
2. Pick the animals through a group, individually, or by scanning ear tags
3. In the second step pick the type Vaccination and fill in vaccine, dose and batch number once
4. If needed, schedule the booster for all animals at once
5. Tap Record treatment for … animals

Every animal gets its own entry with the same batch number.

Correcting a vaccination

A vaccination recorded incorrectly is not deleted, it is voided. Open the entry, go to Edit and correct individual fields, or void the entry with a reason and record it again. The procedure is described under Recording treatments.

Export

Vaccinations sit on the same sheet of the BLV official form «Treatment journal» as the medication treatments, with «Vaccination» as the reason for treatment. You do not need a second printout. For further processing, Journal as CSV contains treatments and vaccinations together.

Tip: check the health overview at the start of every week. That way you do not miss a booster and can arrange appointments with your vet in good time.
