Overview

In vaccination management you document all vaccinations for your animals and plan boosters in advance. Herdy shows you at a glance which vaccinations are coming up, which are overdue, and which have already been carried out.

Recording a vaccination

How to document a vaccination that has been administered:

  1. Go to Health > Vaccinations
  2. Tap New vaccination
  3. Fill in the following fields:
  • Animal -- Select the vaccinated animal from your herd. You can search by ear tag or name.
  • Vaccine -- The name of the vaccine, e.g. "Footvax" (foot rot) or "Bluevac BTV8" (bluetongue disease).
  • Dose -- The quantity administered.
  • Batch number -- The batch number (lot number) of the vaccine as shown on the packaging. This information is important for traceability.
  • Veterinarian -- Who administered or prescribed the vaccination?
  • Date -- When was the vaccination administered?
  1. Tap Save

Tip: Note the batch number while vaccinating, while you still have the packaging in hand. This information is frequently requested during inspections.

Planning a booster

Most vaccinations need to be repeated at regular intervals. How to plan a booster:

  1. Open an existing vaccination
  2. Tap Plan booster
  3. Select the planned date for the next vaccination
  4. Tap Save

Herdy will remind you of the due booster in good time. You can see the planned vaccination in the overview and on the health dashboard.

Vaccination plan overview

The vaccination overview shows all vaccinations in four categories:

Upcoming

Planned vaccinations that lie in the future. Herdy shows you a countdown, e.g. "in 14 days" or "in 3 days". This allows you to plan ahead and obtain the necessary materials in time.

Overdue

Planned vaccinations whose date has already passed without being marked as administered. These are shown with a clear warning, e.g. "5 days overdue". Act on these as soon as possible.

Administered

All vaccinations that have been successfully given and documented. This list serves as proof and reference.

Cancelled

Planned vaccinations that were not carried out -- for example because the animal has since been sold or the veterinarian recommended a different vaccine.

Administering a planned vaccination

When a planned vaccination is due and you carry it out:

  1. Go to Health > Vaccinations
  2. Find the upcoming vaccination in the overview
  3. Tap the vaccination to open it
  4. Tap Mark as administered
  5. Add or correct details (date, batch number, etc.)
  6. Tap Save

The vaccination changes from "Upcoming" to "Administered" and is fully documented.

Tip: Check the vaccination overview regularly -- ideally at the start of each week. This way you will not miss any due booster and can arrange appointments with your veterinarian in good time.
