The overview is the breeding module's home screen and answers the question "what is going on in the barn?" on a single page. You see which checks are due, when the next births are coming and which animals are pregnant.
Opening the overview
Go to Breeding. The overview appears automatically as the first page (tab Overview).
Heat monitoring
At the top sits a tile with the number of due checks, for example "3 checks due" or "No checks due". Tapping it opens Heat monitoring, where every row explains why it is listed.
What is coming up
This card groups the next births into three buckets. It appears as soon as a birth is coming up anywhere:
- Overdue: the expected due date has passed. This bucket only appears if there are such animals.
- Due this week: births within the next 7 days, overdue ones included
- Due soon (8–30 days): births in the coming month
Each bucket shows the count and the first three dams; tapping it opens the mating list.
Tip: check Due this week regularly. That way the lambing pen is ready in time.
Latest pregnancy checks
Below that, Herdy lists the most recently recorded pregnancy checks with date, method and result (Pregnant, Not pregnant, Inconclusive). After the vet's visit you see at a glance what has been recorded. The card only appears once checks exist.
Pregnancy & births
The large block below is the chronological list of all running matings, sorted by expected due date. The totals sit on top: pregnant, due soon, overdue.
What each entry shows
- Dam: ear tag and name
- Sire: ear tag and name, if recorded
- Due date: the date Herdy calculated
- Days remaining: "in 12 days" or "5 days overdue"
- Status as a coloured badge
If no matings are recorded yet, a note appears here with the Record mating button.
The status badges
| Status | Meaning |

| Unconfirmed | The mating is recorded, the pregnancy not yet confirmed. |
| Confirmed | The pregnancy is confirmed, for example by ultrasound. |
| Due soon | The due date is approaching. |
| Overdue | The due date has passed, highlighted in red. |
| Lambed | A birth has been recorded for this mating. |
| Failed | The mating did not result in a pregnancy. |
| Cancelled | The mating was cancelled. |
Tip: an overdue animal is not automatically cause for concern. Gestation length varies naturally by a few days. Do watch the animal closely and call the vet if it runs well past the date.
A typical working day
- In the morning you check the overview on your phone.
- If checks are due, you work through Heat monitoring.
- Animals under Due this week get extra attention.
- When a birth happens you record it via Births or, during lambing season, via Lambing by scan.
- After the vet's visit you enter the results via Pregnancy check for several animals.
