Vaccines

Record and manage vaccines with standard dosages — for efficient vaccination planning.

Overview

The vaccine catalogue is where you manage all vaccines used on your farm. Each vaccine is recorded with name, standard dose, and optional notes. When you document a vaccination, you select the vaccine from this catalogue — the standard dose is applied automatically.

You can access vaccine management via Master Data > Vaccines.

Creating a new vaccine

  1. Go to Master Data > Vaccines.
  2. Tap New Vaccine.
  3. Fill in the following fields:
    • Name — the name of the vaccine, e.g. "Bravoxin 10", "Covexin 8", or "Heptavac-P Plus".
    • Standard dose (optional) — the usual dosage per animal, e.g. "2 ml subcutaneous". This value is proposed when recording a vaccination.
    • Notes (optional) — additional information, e.g. booster interval, storage instructions, or application notes.
  4. Tap Save.

Tip: Enter the vaccine name exactly as it appears on the packaging. This avoids duplicates and makes the vaccine easy to find when recording vaccinations.

Editing a vaccine

You can adjust an existing vaccine at any time:

  1. Tap the pencil icon next to the vaccine in the vaccine list.
  2. Change the desired fields (name, standard dose, notes).
  3. Tap Save.

Changes only affect future vaccinations. Already documented vaccinations retain their original values.

Archiving a vaccine

If you no longer use a vaccine, you can archive it:

  1. Tap the archive icon next to the vaccine.
  2. Confirm the archiving.

Archived vaccines are no longer suggested for new vaccinations but are retained in existing vaccination entries.

Vaccine list

The overview shows all active vaccines with:

  • Name of the vaccine
  • Standard dose (if recorded)
  • Notes (if present)

The list is sorted by name. Archived vaccines are hidden.

Difference from medications

Vaccines and medications are managed separately in Herdy because they serve different purposes:

  • Medications have withdrawal periods (meat and milk) and a stock level. They are used for treatments in the treatment journal.
  • Vaccines have no withdrawal periods and no stock level. They are documented when recording vaccinations.

Both catalogues are available under Master Data and are offered as a selection list when making the relevant entry (treatment or vaccination).

Tip: Record your most frequently used vaccines right at the start. This way you only need to select rather than type manually during the next vaccination session.
