Feed

Overview

Under Master Data > Feed you keep the products you buy: with category, manufacturer, certification and default unit. When recording a purchase or a ration plan you pick from this list instead of describing the product again.

Prerequisite: The Feeding module is enabled per farm by Herdy. If it is not active, the «Feed» card does not appear in Master Data. Write to info@herdy.ch if you would like to use it.

Creating a feed

1. Go to Master Data > Feed.
2. Tap New Feed.
3. Fill in the fields:
   • Product name: for example «UFA 873 Organic Sheep» or «Hay 1st cut».
   • Category (see below).
   • Manufacturer / Mill: for example «UFA AG», «fenaco».
   • Certification (see below).
   • GMO-free and Palm oil-free: both are on by default.
   • Exception permit (ref.): the reference, if one exists for this product.
   • Default unit: kg, dt, t, units, big bag or litres.
   • Note: for example storage location or intended use.
4. Tap Save.

If you have no feed at all yet, the purchase form takes you straight to this form and returns you there after saving. The same happens when creating a ration plan.

The certification status appears as a badge in the list and is carried into the feeding audit export.

The list

The overview shows the product name, the category, the manufacturer and the certification status per entry. The Archived link shows archived entries, Active hides them again.

Editing and archiving

Tap an entry to open its detail page. There you change the details with Edit and take the entry out of selection with Archive. Archived feeds stay in existing purchases and ration plans and can be brought back with Restore. Nothing is deleted.

Tip: On an organic farm it pays to record the exact certification status for every feed you use. The inspection then gets a complete record without you having to hunt for receipts.
