Overview
Every medical treatment of your animals must be documented in accordance with TAMV Art. 28. Herdy makes it simple: you fill in a form, and Herdy creates a complete, legally compliant entry including automatically calculated withdrawal periods.

Recording a single treatment
How to document a treatment for one animal:
- Go to Health > Treatments
- Tap New treatment
- Fill in the following fields:
Required fields
- Animal identification -- Select the affected animal from your herd. You can search by ear tag or name.
- Date of first application -- When was the treatment started?
- Date of last application -- If the treatment spans multiple days, enter the last day here. For a one-time treatment, leave this field empty or set it to the same date.
- Diagnosis / indication -- What is the reason for the treatment? For example: foot rot, parasite infestation, diarrhoea, pneumonia.
- Medication -- Select a medication from your inventory. If the medication has not yet been added, you can add it directly.
- Quantity and unit -- How much was administered? The unit (ml, g, tablets, etc.) is taken from the medication.
Withdrawal periods
- Withdrawal period meat (days) -- Automatically taken from the medication. You can adjust the value if needed.
- Withdrawal period milk (days) -- Automatically taken from the medication.
- Clearance dates -- Herdy automatically calculates when meat and milk may be used again. The calculation is based on the date of last application plus the respective withdrawal period days.
Additional fields
- Veterinarian -- Which veterinarian prescribed the treatment?
- Notes -- Free text field for additional information, e.g. dosage instructions or progress observations.
- Tap Save
Tip: The withdrawal periods are automatically taken from the selected medication. Check the values briefly anyway if your veterinarian has recommended different periods.
Group treatment (batch)
If you are treating several animals at once -- for example during a deworming or vaccination of the whole herd -- use the group treatment:
- Go to Health > Treatments > New treatment
- Select Group treatment
- Select the animals to be treated:
- Select individual animals, or
- Select an existing group (e.g. "Ewes 2025")
- Fill in the treatment data once (diagnosis, medication, quantity, etc.)
- Tap Save
Herdy creates a complete, TAMV-compliant entry for each selected animal. This gives every animal its own individual documentation, even if the treatment was carried out collectively.
Group treatment is particularly suitable for:
- Deworming of the entire herd or individual groups
- Vaccinations (e.g. bluetongue disease, foot rot)
- Routine treatments such as ectoparasite treatment
Viewing and filtering treatments
The treatment list shows all recorded treatments. Use the filter function to search for specific time periods:
- Last year -- All treatments from the previous year
- This year -- All treatments since 1 January
- Last 6 months -- The last six months
- All -- All treatments without time restriction
Repeating a treatment
Do you need to carry out the same treatment again? Use the Repeat treatment function:
- Open an existing treatment
- Tap Repeat treatment
- Herdy carries over all data (medication, quantity, diagnosis) and sets the date to today
- Adjust individual fields if needed
- Tap Save
This saves time with recurring treatments such as regular dewormings.
Deleting a treatment
If you have accidentally created an entry:
- Open the affected treatment
- Tap Delete
- Confirm the deletion in the dialog
Tip: Deleted treatments cannot be restored. Before deleting, check whether it is actually an erroneous entry.
Export: treatment journal
Herdy offers two export formats for your treatment journal:
PDF export (inspection-ready)
The PDF export creates a clear document with all TAMV Art. 28 mandatory fields. This format is suitable for:
- Veterinary inspections and official checks
- Your own filing and documentation
- Sharing with your veterinarian
CSV export (data analysis)
The CSV export delivers all treatment data in tabular form. This format is suitable for:
- Further processing in Excel or other programmes
- Statistical analyses
- Handing over to consultants or breeding organisations
How to export
- Go to Health > Treatments
- Select the desired time period using the filter
- Tap Export
- Select PDF or CSV
- The file is downloaded
Tip: Export your treatment journal regularly as a PDF and save it. This always gives you a backup copy in case of technical problems.
