Create an account

To use Herdy you need a user account. Registering takes a few minutes and costs nothing.

1. Open the Herdy website and click Try free for 7 days or Get started.
2. Enter your email address.
3. Choose a password with at least 8 characters and repeat it in the second field.
4. Click Sign up with email.

No credit card is required.

Confirm your email

After registering you see a note that Herdy has sent you a confirmation email. Click the link in it to activate your account. Herdy writes to you in German, French, Italian or English, depending on the language you had set when registering.

• If nothing arrives, check your spam folder first.
• The link expires after a while. If it has, request a new one with Resend link.
• If you see a message that too many confirmation emails are being sent at the moment, wait a few minutes and try again. That is a rate limit on our mail delivery, not a problem with your account.
• Open the link in the same browser you registered in.

Sign in

1. Open the Herdy website and click Sign in.
2. Enter your email address and password.
3. Click Sign in with email.

At the bottom of the sign-in page you pick the language with DE, EN, FR or IT.

The setup wizard

The first time you sign in, a wizard guides you through the setup. You see which step you are on and can go back at any time with Back.

1. Welcome: a short overview of what is coming.
2. Profile: first name, last name and phone number. Herdy only uses the number for serious problems with your account or your farm data, never for marketing.
3. Path: Create farm, or Accept invitation if you are joining an existing farm.
4. Farm: the name of your farm. It is the shared workspace for your team.
5. Focus: which species you keep and which modules you need. Herdy narrows forms and pickers accordingly. This choice does not affect your price and can be changed at any time.
6. Location: main location and postal address of the farm.
7. TVD (skippable): the connection to the livestock traffic database via Connect with Agate. After connecting you pick the TVD holding Herdy should use. Without that choice, sync and notifications are not possible, but you can catch up later under TVD → Settings.
8. Animals (skippable): import animals from the TVD or record the first animal by hand.
9. Team (skippable): invite a first person by email.
10. Done: a summary, then Go to dashboard.

Creating the farm automatically starts your 7-day trial. You do not have to pick anything. See Pricing & subscription.

The «Getting started» checklist

Afterwards the dashboard shows a card with the open tasks: add location, connect TVD, import animals, register the first animal, choose a plan, invite a team member, create a group and register a medication. Completed items are ticked off. Dismiss removes the card.

Forgot your password

1. On the sign-in page click Forgot password?.
2. Enter your email address and click Reset password.
3. Follow the link in the email and set a new password.

Tip: Choose a password you can remember but that is hard to guess. Herdy rejects passwords that have appeared in a known data breach.

Profile and security

You reach your personal profile through the profile menu at the bottom left on a computer, or through More → your name on a phone. There you find:

• Profile picture and name, as the other members see them
• Contact details: first name, last name and phone number
• Notifications: per farm and per category, whether you are informed by email or by push. See Set up push notifications
• Language: German, English, French or Italian, applying to the app and to emails
• Update email: change the address you sign in with
• Update password: enter the current password, confirm the new one twice
• Multi-factor authentication: a second security step with an authenticator app. You scan a QR code and enter the generated code. From then on Herdy also asks for that code when you sign in
• Linked accounts: the sign-in methods of your account

Setting up a team

If several people work with Herdy on your farm, invite them under Settings → Members and give each person a role. How that works and what the roles may do is described under Team and roles.

Deleting your account

At the very bottom of the profile sits the Danger Zone with Delete account. You confirm by typing the word for deletion.

Important: This deletes your account and every farm you own, including the treatment journal and the medication inventory. Both must be kept for three years under TAMV Art. 29. Export those records first under Settings → General. Active subscriptions are cancelled immediately. The deletion cannot be undone.
